The bursa is a fluid-filled sac or saclike cavity, esp. one countering friction at a joint. The bursa is very important and makes it natural and easy for us to move. It acts like a cushion between the bone and other parts of the body such as tendon, muscle or skin. Bursitis is inflammation or swelling of the bursa. Bursitis occurs from joint overuse or traumatic injury. Bursitis commonly occurs in the elbow or the knee joints.
